FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
Q Will my horse have its own stable?
A Yes, wooden, on concrete base, lined with 18ml sterling board and fitted with tie-up rings. Each stable has a window with bars, and a roof-light for plenty of daylight. Bulk-head electric light inside stable, chew-strips on doorframe and doors.
Q What size are the stables?
A Eight of them are 12ft.square, two are 16ft by 12ft.
Q Is bedding available
A Yes we produce our own straw, other bedding by arrangement.
Q Is hay available?
A Haylage is produced on the farm, other forage by arrangement.
Q What about feed?
A If you know what suits your horse you could by it in yourself or ask us to buy in for you, and we will invoice you monthly.
Q Do you have a feed room?
A Yes, but you need to provide a container to keep feed in, we use plastic Dustbins with lids.
Q How about water supply?
A There is mains water supply to taps in the yard, with hot and cold water in Common-room and wash-room.
Q Is there a toilet?
A Yes there is a toilet and wash-room.
Q Is there somewhere to make drinks?
A There is a common-room equipped to make hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Q What are your hours of opening?
A 7am-8pm others by arrangement.
Q Is there a yard worming policy?
A All horses must be on routine parasite control, either as recommended by worming product producer or a vet.
Q What about vaccinations and passports?
A All horses must hold an up to date certificate of vaccination against equine flu and tetanus, and have their passport.
Q Do you have a feeding routine?
A Yes – first feed 7am.
Q Is there a secure tack-room?
A Yes we have a tack-room that is locked at night, but we recommend expensive tack is not left.
Q What other security is there?
A We have a security system.
Q Does anyone live on site?
A Yes family resident 24 hours.
Q What parking is provided?
A There is free parking for clients and visitors. Hard-standing for horse vehicles - trailers at £10 per month and lorries at £20 per month.
Q Livery clients’ term’s of use of arena?
A Clients have free use of the school daily providing they book a time in advance, (time-table in common room), and may share a time by mutual agreement of fellow client(s). Clients are requested to book the times they wish to use the arena. Priority will be given to tuition in school.
Q Is the arena for public hire?
A Yes, the individual may hire at £5 per hr and groups or clubs at £10 per hr.
Q Is there all year round grazing?
A Yes, rotational grazing with sheep.
Q Do we have to pick up droppings in field?
A There will be a certain amount of this to do, the sheep will help to break the worm cycle, the pasture will be harrowed and treated for weeds.
Q What size are the fields?
A Each equine has its own paddock of approx 3/4 acre.
Q Do we have to take water to fields?
A No, there are field troughs on mains water supply.
Q Where can we ride?
A There are many riding routes on the farm in its’ own valley with public bridleway running through.
Q What would I need to bring with my horse?
A Ideally some food and forage that your horse is already on, so that any change in diet will be gradual. Two feed bowls, two water buckets, yard -tools for mucking out and whatever else your horse normally requires.
Q What about a farrier?
A You may wish to engage your usual farrier, if you don’t have one, our regular farrier will be happy to take you on.
